HS2 Ltd is seeking a Design Manager to join the Design Delivery Team for the HS2 station project in London. This role involves managing design changes, ensuring quality and timely delivery, and coordinating between various teams to support construction activities. Applicants should possess relevant design management experience in a railway environment, with a strong understanding of construction project information software and NEC3 contracts.
As part of Design Delivery Team (Design & Engineering) of the Construction Partner BBVS JV, supporting the construction activities by timely provision of assured design information to appropriate parties. The construction of the HS2 station’s heavy civils infrastructure is nearing completion here at the Old Oak Common site, baseline detailed design is accepted by the client and the appointment of the suppliers to build the integrated station is nearing completion.
This post in the Design Management team covers variety civils, structural and architectural packages for the integrated station. Key areas involve Great Western Main Line (GWML) and Shared Accommodation Block (SAB) concrete, steel, cladding and glazing works
The purpose of the role is to manage on behalf of the BBVS JV and the client a timely delivery of quality assured changes to the accepted detailed designs by the Consultant and directing subcontractors to achieve the same for the corresponding submissions, across phases of the works.
Duties
- Assist and manage delivery and coordination of technical and interface aspects of the Station design / construction Work Packages
- Help, as directed by Design Manager, in coordination between design and construction teams
- Support the Engineering, BIM and Technical Assurance (sub) teams to achieve Code 1 Acceptance of all Design Deliverables
- Manage the coordination between design and construction teams, effective flow of information between the parties
- Implementation of design change
- Input into contract correspondence, where relevant to the tasks
- Engagement with procurement process
Person Specification
- Design Management experience
- Railway station project experience
- Prior experience in rail environment (GRIP awareness)
- Experience in one of following disciplines Civils / Structures / Bridges / Utilities / Architecture / MEPH / Fire / Communication systems
- Construction project information software (eB, ALIM, ASite, BC, CEMAR, Bentley suite)
- NEC3 contract principles awareness
