Assistant D&M QS/Surveyor
Location: Essex
Salary: 45-50k + Package
Sector: Property Maintenance

Daniel Owen is proud to represent a well-known LATCO based in Essex, seeking an ambitious Assistant QS/Surveyor to join their team.

The ideal candidate will have at least 1+ years of experience in social housing or construction, with strong knowledge of D&M and Disrepair projects.

  1. Manage all commercial aspects of D&M/Disrepair projects, working closely with other Surveyors and the Head of Service.
  2. Conduct damp and mould inspections, preferably within social housing.
  3. Hold a relevant technical qualification (HNC/HND or equivalent in Building Surveying or Construction). Membership of RICS or CIOB is desirable.
  4. Have a strong understanding of housing health and safety regulations, including HHSRS and disrepair legislation.
  5. Be proficient in property management systems and Microsoft Office.
  6. Possess excellent interpersonal and communication skills to engage confidently with residents and colleagues.
  7. Perform detailed property inspections to diagnose damp, mould, and condensation issues.
  8. Produce clear reports with findings, remedial actions, and recommendations.
  9. Collaborate with internal teams such as repairs, tenancy services, and asset management.
  10. Oversee contractor works to ensure standards and compliance.
  11. Support tenants throughout the inspection and repair process.
  12. Contribute to strategic planning for damp and mould prevention across the housing stock.

Key Knowledge:

  1. Property services/construction industry knowledge.
  2. MCIOB qualification is essential.
  3. Commercial awareness.
  4. HNC or Degree in Quantity Surveying required.
