We are currently looking for a passionate Assistant Curator to join our Site Design team on a part time, 24 hours per week permanent basis

As an Assistant Curator – Site Design, you'll assist in curating exhibitions across the Southbank Centre site, and you will be part of a small, fast-paced, and imaginative team, helping to bring global artists' visions to life and ensuring the smooth execution of installations and exhibitions on our iconic site.

Main responsibilities include:

  • Organise the commissioning or production of works for Site Design projects
  • Contribute to the commissioning and management of external contractors including artists, architects, curators, designers, fabricators etc
  • Contribute to developing and refining installation layouts
  • Organise the hire/ purchase and maintenance of equipment required for exhibitions in close collaboration with the operations team
  • Oversee Exhibition budgets – including setting up and updating budget documents, obtaining estimates, monitoring Management Accounts, raising purchase orders and processing all project related invoices and expenses

Key skills that will help you in this role:

  • Demonstrable experience of organising exhibitions, including managing loans, working with operations/technical teams; managing commissions and budgets and liaising with artists
  • Is well organised, with demonstrable administration and research skills, a methodical approach and strong attention to detail
  • Confident verbal and written communication skills with the ability to build and maintain positive working relationships with internal and external stakeholders
  • Demonstrable ability to proactively manage workload, managing multiple priorities, meeting deadlines.
