Job Description:

As a Sous Chef, you will lead a team of up to 12 staff, preparing meals for approximately 250 students and staff, including breakfast, lunch, dinner, and snacks.

You will assist the Kitchen Manager with menu planning, food purchasing, and stock control, and contribute to menu development, cleanliness, and kitchen housekeeping.

Shift Pattern Overview:

  • 5 days over 6, alternating shifts: 7:00 AM–3:00 PM and 11:30 AM–7:30 PM
  • Sundays closed
  • Every third weekend off

Key Responsibilities include:

  • Managing menu, food production, and purchasing within budget
  • Maintaining cleanliness and safety standards
  • Stock management to reduce waste
  • Training and developing the kitchen team
  • Ensuring compliance with health, safety, and company policies

Outside of Term Time:

The school hosts private lettings and international programs during Easter and summer.

Person Specification:

  • Excellent culinary skills and experience
  • Passionate about food and quality
  • NVQ Level 2 in professional cookery or equivalent (desirable)
