At Cavendish Nuclear, we’re working to create a safe and secure world. Join us as an Assistant Cost Engineer at our Glasgow site and play your part in this mission.

The role

As an Assistant Cost Engineer, you’ll support the costs portfolio for high-priority infrastructure upgrade projects within a leading nuclear services company. Your role is critical to ensuring projects are completed successfully, on time, and within budget, while implementing best practices.

Daily responsibilities include securing resources, managing resources, budgets, risks, and changes using formal processes and tools, and ensuring project completion according to specifications and within budget. You will collaborate with stakeholders, gaining exposure to the wider business and various opportunities across Cavendish Nuclear and Babcock, while working in our new office in central Glasgow.

  • Coordinate and collate all project cost data for the joint venture.
  • Produce the joint venture Revenue and Cost Reports.
  • Provide trend analysis and variance reports to monitor project cost performance against targets.
  • Assist with re-forecasting exercises with the Project Team for accurate projections.
  • Ensure cost reporting aligns with the Project WBS.
  • Assist with Monthly Billing processes.

This role is full-time, 37 hours per week, with hybrid working arrangements (1-2 days in-office, 3-4 days remote). Agile working and flexible patterns, including part-time, condensed hours, and job sharing, may be available; please inquire during the interview process.

  • Knowledge of project management and controls principles, including Earned Value Management
  • Familiarity with commercial scheduling and estimating software
