Job summary

Bridgend County Borough Council Catering Services is seeking an Assistant Cook at Llangewydd Junior School to support the Cook with universal primary free school meals and to coordinate daily kitchen activities. The role includes covering the Cook when absent and rotations at other schools in the borough.

We require an Intermediate Food Hygiene Certificate, Welsh language ability, and an enhanced DBS with the Children's Barred List. Hours are 10am–2pm, Monday to Friday, term time only.

Qualifications

• Welsh language ability is a requirement to greet customers.

Responsibilities

Job description

An exciting opportunity has become available within Bridgend County Borough Council Catering Services department.

Catering Services provide meals in primary, special and secondary schools across the borough for pupils and staff via a service level agreement with the individual schools.

The successful applicant for the position as assistant cook at Llangewydd Junior School would support the cook with the preparation of universal primary free school meals and the management and co-ordination of day to day activities within this kitchen, ensuring a quality service is provided to all customers.

You will be expected to cover for the Cook in their absence and to cover at other schools within the County Borough.

An Intermediate Food Hygiene Certificate is required for this post. Training will be provided if necessary.

Working hours will be arranged between the hours of 10am to 2pm, Monday to Friday, term time only.

The ability to greet customers through the medium of Welsh is a requirement for this post.

Protecting children, young people or adults at risk is a core responsibility of all council employees.

An Enhanced with Childrens Barred list criminal records check by the Disclosure & Barring Service (DBS) is a requirement for this post.
