Job summary

Peterborough City Council seeks an energetic part-time cook/kitchen team member for a commercial kitchen at Clare Lodge Secure Children's Home. Job description

All about the Role

We are looking to recruit an energetic, enthusiastic part-time cook/kitchen team member to work in our commercial kitchen at Clare Lodge Secure Children's Home. The position requires following pre-planned menus for lunch and dinner, serving a minimum of 25+ covers per sitting for residents and their care workers. The menu is developed in accordance with the Homes Policy, consulting with residents to ensure a healthy, varied diet for young people aged between 12 and 17 years.

Duties include cooking at least once a week and assisting with day-to-day kitchen operations on non-cook days.

All About You

The successful candidate will demonstrate:

  • Level 2 Food Hygiene and NVQ or equivalent in Catering
  • Flexibility to undertake additional hours and shift swaps to cover planned leave or sickness
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Cook experience and a general catering background
  • Responsibility for the kitchen environment and assisting on cook days
  • Managing stock levels and ordering within PCC guidelines
  • Receiving and checking deliveries, reporting discrepancies
  • Operating kitchen equipment, waste management, health and safety, hygiene, and food allergen regulations
  • Undertaking training in relevant policies and procedures related to safety and security in a secure environment
