Housing 21 is seeking an Assistant Cook to support the kitchen team in planning, preparing and cooking meals and light refreshments for service users. The role emphasizes varied diets, hygiene, and economical service delivery.

You will deputise for the cook when needed and contribute to training and development within a caring, social-oriented organisation.

Qualifications

• Experience of working in a kitchen
• Basic food hygiene
• Willingness to participate in training
• Understanding of cleaning materials and their suitability to tasks
• Understanding of varied diets (multicultural, diabetic, vegetarian, low fat)

Responsibilities

• Assist the cook to plan, prepare and cook meals and light refreshments

Job description

Within the role of Assistant Cook you will assist the cook to plan, prepare and cook meals and light refreshments, ensuring that a varied and balanced diet is provided for all service users and that provision is made for individuals medical, cultural or dietary requirements and personal preferences. You will assist the cook to ensure that the service is provided in a hygienic, efficient and economical manner as well as deputise for the cook in their absence where appropriate.
