Job summary

Clayton St John CofE Primary School in Manchester is seeking an Assistant Cook to support the Catering Manager in planning and preparing nutritionally balanced school menus, using our school nutritional standards and budgets.

You will help oversee all catering operations, deputise for the catering manager in their absence, assist with office tasks, and provide a professional, friendly service for staff and children. Visits to the school are welcome via the school office.

Responsibilities

• Assist the catering manager to prepare and cook nutritionally balanced meals within budget and health and safety guidelines.
• Deputise for the catering manager in their absence and oversee catering operations.
• Assist the line manager with office duties.
• Provide a professional, friendly and efficient service for staff and children.

Job description

The ideal candidate will have the skills and experience to support the Catering Manager in planning and preparing our school menus, using the school nutritional standards, with aspirations to develop further. We are looking for someone with enthusiasm for all aspects of school life.

Job Role

• Assist the catering manager to prepare and cook nutritionally balanced meals in accordance with the dietary needs specified by the school foods standards, within the budget and within all the health and safety guidelines.
• As Assistant Cook, you will assist in overseeing all aspects of catering operations and deputising for the catering manager in their absence.
• Assist the line manager with any office duties.
• To provide a professional, friendly and efficient service for the staff and children.
