Do you have Catering Experience or a Qualification such as an SVQ, City & Guilds, or equivalent?

We have a permanent vacancy for an Assistant Cook in Glenrothes, working 30 hours per week, Monday to Friday, between 8:00am and 2:00pm, on a 38-week term-time contract.

Location: Glenwood High School

Working hours: 30 hours per week, 38-week contract

Responsibilities include:

  • Preparation of food and beverages
  • Organisation of the service of food
  • Transporting and serving meals
  • General kitchen and dining room duties (e.g., washing up, setting up and clearing away equipment and tables)
  • Cleaning of the kitchen, surrounding areas, and equipment
  • Completing required paperwork, including electronic returns

Salary and Benefits:

  • £12.67 per hour, plus extra payments for shift work, including weekends
  • Annualised pay with equal installments every 4 weeks
  • Membership of Fife Pension Fund (part of the Scottish Local Government Pension Scheme - LGPS Scotland)

This role involves ensuring pupils and staff are provided with meals during school hours, including Breakfast, Morning Break, and Lunch.

The Person:

  • Catering experience or a qualification such as an SVQ, City & Guilds, or equivalent is required.
  • Before starting, you must obtain PVG scheme membership through Disclosure Scotland and become a member of the relevant scheme.

  • You will be required to attend a full day of Induction Training before commencing the role.
