Job description

Strathburn House is situated in Gairloch on the West Coast of the Highlands in Scotland and is part of the North Coast 500 area. It is an integral part of the local community. For the staff working at Strathburn there are many opportunities for learning and development and we would welcome your application to be part of our Strathburn family.

There are lots of activities nearby including the Torridon Hills and other notable walks and trails. Gairloch also has some beautiful beaches nearby such as Big Sands, Red Point Beach and the very well-known Gruinard Bay where water sports can be found. There are also opportunities to fish and try falconry as well as many other skills. In high season, there are lovely cafes and restaurants to grab a bite. The award winning Gairloch Museum is a must to learning more about the local history. Other interesting attractions are the old gun turrets at the end of Cove where you will find many World War II artefacts and information. Accommodation can be found in the local areas of Inverasdale, Poolewe, Aultbea and Gairloch, all very commutable via car.

Main duties of the role include -

  • To work alongside the head cook.
  • To ensure the kitchen is kept clean.
  • To prepare all meals and cook said meals.
  • To ensure all allergens are documented.
  • To make sure audits are carried out on a regular basis.
  • To ensure food preferences and choices are adhered to and documented.
  • To ensure there is fresh baking done.
  • To follow all the REHIS and COSHH regulations as well as local and national policies including the HSE.
