The Client:

An established regional main contractor, one of the notable names in the local market, with strong partnerships across the healthcare, education, public, commercial, residential and leisure sectors, this forward-thinking builder are renowned for their delivery of new build and refurbishment works on schemes across the East of England for a range of exciting clients.

The Role:

Looking to appoint an ambitious, driven individual into the role of Trainee (or Assistant) Contracts Manager, the business are keen to select a candidate from a site background in the industry and provide them with the opportunity to move into the office and begin to build a managerial career. The role will see you support the Directors and Contracts Managers on the delivery of everything from small works to major projects, with values ranging from £50k to £5m.

Responsibilities:

  • Assist with, and learn about, the management of all aspects of the company’s construction projects, ensuring they are completed on time, within budget and to a high-quality standard.
  • Helping to manage and coordinate sub-contractors, suppliers and materials, ensuring compliance with contracts and specifications.
  • Assisting with all contractual aspects of the construction projects, including variations, claims, and disputes.
  • Managing client expectations and maintaining regular communication to ensure satisfaction and retention.
  • Learning to build construction phase programmes, working on projects from pre-construction stage through to final delivery, amending and managing plans where appropriate.
  • Ensuring compliance with all relevant Health and Safety legislation and regulations.

Requirements:

  • Experience within the construction industry is essential, but this can be from any background and will ideally be on-site.
  • A determined, strong-willed individual who is prepared to challenge themselves as they grow and develop in the role.
  • A confident attitude with the ability to talk to people at all levels; you will be liaising with everyone from site-based workers through to clients, consultants and architects.
  • You will be a hard-worker, someone willing to learn and go the extra mile when it comes to your own training and development.

Qualifications & Experience:

  • Ideally you will be from a site background, be that labouring or within the trade. Some managerial experience as a Foreman or Supervisor would be beneficial, but this is not necessary for the right candidate.
  • You will be situated close to the Colchester area, and hold a full driving licence.
