The Role

Commercial Services Group is seeking an Assistant Grounds Maintenance Contracts Manager to join our Landscape Services brand to cover East Kent. The Assistant Contracts Manager is a key part of the management structure here at Landscape Services, responsible for supporting the delivery of services and staff wellbeing. As our ‘second in command’, you will assist in organizing and overseeing scheduled maintenance of contracts within your area, serving clients including schools, parishes, roundabouts, waste sites, and ad-hoc works, all to contractual specifications.

To succeed, you should have knowledge of grounds maintenance and landscaping operations, as well as familiarity with your local area. The ideal candidate will be organized, resourceful, and have prior low-level management or team leader experience. The role involves instructing and organizing staff through proactive planning of routes and rounds, ensuring resource, material, and contract requirements are met.

This role requires a full clean driver’s license and an Enhanced DBS Check (carried out by us). Please consider this before applying.

Key Duties:

  • Ownership of key administrative responsibilities, including depot and site inspections, sourcing and ordering goods, and incident reporting.
  • Assisting in scheduling and managing operational teams’ workloads, ensuring routes and rounds are followed, and proposing solutions considering geography, customer type, and equipment.
  • Attending customer and site meetings with the Regional Contracts Manager. Assisting with pricing and quotations for ad-hoc works.
  • Conducting safety inspections to protect staff, customers, and the public, including site, vehicle, and equipment checks.
  • Planning, organizing, and supervising equipment, staff, and materials to prevent wastage and ensure compliance, including chemical usage legislation.
  • Supporting and deputizing for the Regional Contracts Manager as needed, especially during high staff sickness, leave, or busy seasons.

What we need from you:

  • Minimum 3 years of industry experience, preferably in grounds maintenance.
  • Understanding of contract agreements and risk management.
  • Excellent communication skills for liaising with senior managers and stakeholders.
  • Full clean driving license.
  • IOSH Managing Safely or equivalent qualification.
  • PA1A, PA6A certifications are desirable.
