Contract Management Assistant

Urenco Nuclear Stewardship | Capenhurst, Cheshire

Department: Commercial
Reporting to: Senior Contract Manager
Contract type:Contract
Security clearance: Full Security Check (SC) clearance required from day one

The opportunity

Urenco Nuclear Stewardship is looking for a proactive, organised and commercially minded Contract Management Assistant to join its Commercial team at Capenhurst.

This is an opportunity to support contract management activities within a complex, highly regulated nuclear environment, working alongside experienced commercial and contract management professionals.

The role will focus on the day-to-day coordination and administration of contractual arrangements, helping ensure that contractual processes, reporting, documentation and stakeholder actions are managed accurately and efficiently.

You will work closely with internal stakeholders across the Urenco Group and external customers, helping maintain effective working relationships, monitor contractual activity and ensure important actions and deadlines are followed through.

This position would suit someone with experience in contract administration, commercial coordination, project support or a similar role who enjoys working with detail, communicating with stakeholders and keeping business-critical processes on track.

The role

Reporting to the Senior Contract Manager, you will provide practical commercial and contractual support across internal group arrangements and external customer contracts.

You will take ownership of day-to-day coordination, administration, reporting and action tracking, escalating contractual or commercial issues to the relevant Contract Manager when required.

Working within a commercially sensitive environment, you will help ensure that information is accurate, contractual obligations are monitored and stakeholders receive the support they need.

Key responsibilities

  • Contract administration and coordination: Support the day-to-day administration of internal group and external customer contracts, helping ensure contractual processes run smoothly and efficiently.
  • Stakeholder management: Act as a key point of contact for internal stakeholders, other Urenco entities and external customers, building effective working relationships and maintaining clear communication.
  • Reporting and documentation: Prepare, maintain and coordinate contractual reports, scope documents, service arrangements, correspondence and contract close-out documentation.
  • Action and deadline management: Maintain action trackers, follow up outstanding activities, obtain status updates and ensure actions are progressed within agreed timescales.
  • Commercial monitoring: Support routine commercial processes, including invoice checks, contract management information (CMI), performance monitoring and the identification of early warning indicators or potential issues for escalation.
  • Change management: Support the administration and tracking of contractual changes, ensuring relevant information is recorded, stakeholders are engaged and issues are referred to the appropriate Contract Manager.
  • Meetings and communication: Arrange and support interface meetings, prepare agendas where required, take minutes and circulate actions to ensure clear accountability and follow-through.
  • Governance and strategy: Contribute to commercial initiatives, strategic programmes and business improvement activities, providing flexible support across the wider Commercial function.

About you

You are an organised and dependable professional who takes pride in getting the details right, managing competing priorities and ensuring that actions are completed on time.

You will be comfortable communicating with people at different levels of an organisation, confident in following up outstanding information and able to maintain a professional approach when dealing with commercially sensitive matters.

You do not need to be an experienced Contract Manager. We are interested in candidates who can demonstrate strong coordination, administration and stakeholder management skills, alongside a genuine interest in commercial and contractual work.

Essential skills and attributes

  • Strong organisational skills, with the ability to prioritise workloads, manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Confidence engaging with stakeholders at different levels, maintaining professional relationships and following up on outstanding actions.
  • Good Microsoft Office skills, particularly Excel, with the ability to manage information and produce accurate reports.
  • A proactive, self-motivated approach, with the ability to work independently and take ownership of day-to-day responsibilities.
  • Strong attention to detail and a commitment to accuracy, confidentiality and reliable record-keeping.
  • A collaborative, customer-focused mindset and a practical, delivery-oriented approach.

Desirable experience

We would welcome applications from candidates with experience in one or more of the following areas:

  • Contract administration, junior contract management or commercial support.
  • Project coordination, project administration or business support within a complex organisation.
  • Procurement, supplier management, customer contracts or service-level agreements.
  • Contract reporting, invoice checking, change control, action tracking or performance monitoring.
  • Working in a regulated or technically complex environment, such as nuclear, energy, defence, engineering or infrastructure.
  • Business-to-business contractual arrangements and an understanding of commercial processes.

A degree or equivalent qualification would be advantageous, as would familiarity with nuclear industry requirements, relevant legislation and planning or project management processes.

Direct nuclear industry experience is desirable rather than essential, provided you can demonstrate the core skills required for the role.

Security requirements

The role involves access to commercially sensitive information and support for projects with security requirements. Candidates must be able to obtain and hold the required full Security Check (SC) clearance from day one, subject to the applicable eligibility and vetting requirements.

Why consider this opportunity?

This is an opportunity to develop your commercial and contract management experience within the nuclear sector, supporting a specialist team and working with a broad range of internal and external stakeholders.

You will gain exposure to complex contractual arrangements, commercial reporting, governance and change management while building the practical skills needed to progress within a commercial or contract management career.

If you are organised, commercially curious and confident working with people and information, we would welcome your application.
