Join the BBC Homepage team to help curate digital content seen by millions. As an Assistant Content Producer, you\'ll play a key role in selecting and presenting the best of BBC output, ensuring relevance and quality for diverse audiences.
Overview
This is a 365 role requiring shift work, including weekends and bank holidays according to rota. Attendance at the MediaCity, Salford office is expected on Wednesdays and Thursdays. Flexible working will be part of the discussion at offer stage; if you would like to indicate a preference in the application, you may do so (not mandatory).
Working pattern
- Includes approximately 1x4 start times at 07:00 and 1x4 finishes at 22:00
- Approximately 1 in 4 weekends and some bank holiday working
- Some Christmas and New Year working required
- Office attendance expected Wednesdays and Thursdays
Key responsibilities and impact
- Curate the content of the BBC including news, sport, and entertainment
- Select compelling imagery and write promotional copy
- Ensure content meets editorial, technical, and accessibility standards
- Collaborate with other departments to gather and curate time-sensitive content
- Participate in planning and organisational projects under the direction of senior producers
Requirements
- Knowledge of BBC editorial guidelines or willingness to learn
- Experience creating high-quality digital curations
- Strong writing and picture editing skills
- Ability to use audience data to inform editorial decisions
- Proficiency in IT and digital production tools
- Disability confident wording for interview/process adjustments; contact provided to discuss adjustments
Desirable but not required
- Experience working in a digital media environment
- Understanding of accessibility standards
- Creative problem-solving skills
- Experience with BBC content platforms like iPlayer and Sounds
