Job description

We have an exciting opportunity within the acute adult Inpatient Mental Health Services for an Assistant Clinical Lead on Oakburn Ward at Lynfield Mount Hospital. This is a male acute ward, a 20-bedded unit for working-aged adults 18+.

We are looking for someone who is prepared to lead creatively, committed to improving patient and family carer experience, and who will motivate the team to strive for continuous improvement through developing pathways across Mental Health Services and partner organisations in the acute care, voluntary, and community sectors.

Areas of focus include creating a safe and caring culture, addressing quality and safety agendas, ensuring safer staffing, meeting key performance indicators, roster management, lessons learned, and enabling team development.

To demonstrate high standards of care to patients and contribute to a safe and developing culture.

  • Provide clinical expertise and guidance to inpatient ward staff.
  • Ensure the service meets local, regional, and national guidance and quality standards.
  • Maintain high standards of documentation, care planning, and risk assessments.
  • Provide relevant training and education as required.
  • Contribute to data collection and analysis at local and regional levels.
  • Be an integral part of the senior team.
  • Support the team in meeting quality standards, implementing policies, managing change, and fostering innovation.
  • Monitor and analyze care provision through audits, reviews, and engagement, leading efforts to maintain and improve standards.
  • Administer medication in line with Trust policies and NMC guidelines.
  • Maintain clinical record systems as required.
  • Ensure correct implementation of the Mental Health Act.
