YOUR NEW ROLE, WHAT'S INVOLVED?

  • Contributing to concept studies, strategies, and drawing packages, leading to planning applications, technical approval submissions, and construction issues.
  • Contributing to all types of development projects across sectors and clients.
  • Managing multiple varied projects simultaneously.
  • Developing your technical capabilities with support from the Cambridge team.
  • Engaging with clients, stakeholders, and design teams (internal and external).
  • Ensuring tasks are delivered on time, within budget, and to technical and legal standards.

The Development Team is a high-performing discipline within the Planning and Development business unit, comprising over 800 colleagues focused on project delivery throughout the project lifecycle, from land acquisition to scheme implementation.

Our vision is to be recognized as the best development team in the industry, achieved through continuous improvement across four pillars: Technical Excellence, People, Clients, and Operational Excellence.

We assist clients in promoting, implementing, and managing sustainable development, from pre-feasibility to planning consent; establishing development plans; and developing multi-disciplinary designs from concept to construction.

Our clients include public and private sector land promoters, house builders, developers, architects, government, and local authorities. Our services include:

  • Civil engineering, highway design, and earthworks strategies
  • Utilities, energy planning, and coordination
  • Drainage, flood risk, and SuDS
  • Site appraisal, due diligence, and strategic planning advice

What we will be looking for you to demonstrate…

  • Knowledge of highway design, drainage strategies, flood risk assessment, utilities, and understanding of the development industry.
  • Desirable: hydraulics, hydrology, geotechnics, building structures, and construction design stages.
  • Ability to produce infrastructure masterplans, site appraisals, technical reports, design calculations, and drawings with supervision.
  • Knowledge of relevant design codes and experience in preparing drawings for contracts and approvals.
  • Strong communication skills and awareness of climate change and sustainability guidance.
  • Proficiency in relevant software such as Info Drainage, Micro Drainage, AutoCAD, Civil 3D, or PDS.
  • Experience liaising with clients, professionals, and authorities to secure approvals and agreements.
  • Understanding of legal, planning, design, and contract procedures related to development projects.
  • Knowledge of financial and contractual aspects of project delivery.
  • Postgraduate experience or working towards Chartership, or equivalent experience and responsibility.
