Job summary

AtkinsRéalis is seeking an Assistant Civil Engineer in the UK to support and lead multi-disciplinary design work across river, coastal, maritime and dam projects.

You will join a skilled UK-based team under the D&AT Practice, collaborating with global teams to deliver integrated designs and ensure quality across fast-paced environments. A degree in Civil Engineering and active chartership development are expected, with opportunities to grow technical and leadership skills.

Responsibilities

• Support or lead a small team in the delivery of technical design work on multi-disciplinary projects to high-quality levels in river, coastal, maritime and dams engineering.
• Collaborate with civil engineering teams and other AtkinsRéalis groups on delivery of design deliverables.
• Work independently with some technical guidance.
• Use technical judgment to solve design problems and guide junior members.
• Collaborate with UK and overseas teams to deliver integrated design solutions.
• Adhere to quality assurance standards in design and check own work.
• Prepare design reports, specifications, drawings, calculations, and scopes of work.
• Attend sites, inspect asset conditions and accompany senior engineers on site.

We are looking for an energetic and zexperienced Assistant Civil Engineer to join our team within the Design & Advanced Technology (D&AT) Practice of AtkinsRéalis. You'll be part of a talented, multi-disciplinary team delivering cutting edge, iconic projects to a wide variety of clients within our growth markets of aviation, energy and water. We work with a range of domestic and international clients including the Environment Agency, Water Companies, Ministry of Defence, New Nuclear, Ports, investment banks and major developers.

As a key member of our team, you will support delivery of integrated and sustainable design outcomes, enhancing environmental resilience while addressing engineering needs. You'll also engage with computational design tools to standardize methodologies and enable accurate, efficient design at scale.

We offer hybrid working which involves 3 days per week being office/site based. This position is based in our Epsom office.

Your role

As Civil Engineer in the D&AT practice, you would have the following responsibilities:

• Support or lead a small team in thedelivery of technical design work on multi-disciplinary projects following relevant national and project specific design codes and standards, and to high-quality levels in areas of river, coastal, maritime and dams engineering.
• Collaborate with immediate civil engineering team, multi-disciplinary project teams and other internal and external related AtkinsRéalis teams on delivery of various size engineering design deliverables and projects.
• Work independently with some technical guidance.
• Use technical experience and judgement to solve design problems. Where appropriate and provide informal guidance to junior team members.
• Work closely with a multi-disciplinary team in the UK and overseas to deliver integrated design solutions.
• Adhere to quality assurance standards in design including check of own work as well as others.
• Responsible for inputting and/or preparing technical deliverables such as design reports, specifications, drawings, calculations, and scopes of work with defined scope.
• Attend sites, inspecting asset conditions and accompanying senior engineers on site.
