Job summary

Bupa’s Bank Nairn House Care Home in Enfield is seeking an Assistant Chef / 2nd Chef to deliver high-quality, nourishing meals for residents. The role involves preparing varied menus, leading a kitchen team, and ensuring safety standards are followed.

Offering a bank, part-time position with a salary of £13.04–£14.58 per hour, you’ll contribute to a caring, resident-focused dining experience and support the team in delivering meals that feel home-like and comforting.

• Ability to train and manage kitchen staff while maintaining safety standards.

Responsibilities

• Prepare varied and nutritious menus aligned to resident dietary needs.
• Deliver an excellent dining experience and make residents feel at home.
• Train and lead kitchen team in prepping, cooking and serving foods.
• Adhere to COSHH and HACCP, manage orders, budgets and deliveries.
• Cater for events and seasonal activities as required.

We are looking for an equally passionate Assistant Chef to join the team and help deliver an excellent dining experience for our residents.

You’ll help us make health happen by:

• Using your passion for cooking and fresh ingredients to create varied and nutritional menus in line with dietary needs and preferences of our residents
• Putting forward ideas to deliver an excellent dining experience, helping our residents to feel at home
• Training and managing the kitchen team in prepping, cooking and serving of food
• Adhering to COSHH and HACCP guidelines, company policies and procedures, budgets, managing orders and deliveries
• Catering for special events or seasonal activities, such as summer fetes, Christmas parties and birthdays (as required)

Key Skills / Qualifications needed for this role:

• A passion for cooking with previous experience working in a fresh food kitchen and relevant hygiene certificates
• You want to create and deliver an excellent dining experience at each meal and make our residents feel at home
• Open to new ideas, you’ll have an innovative approach to cooking whilst always adhering to high standards
• You’ll enjoy communicating with others and you’ll cherish the little moments with our residents, sharing your love of food with them
