Job summary

Bupa is seeking an Assistant Chef / 2nd Chef at Norewood Lodge, Portishead. The role involves preparing nutritious meals for residents, respecting dietary needs, and maintaining high kitchen standards. You will help lead the kitchen team and ensure a welcoming dining experience aligned with Bupa’s quality care standards.

Responsibilities

Salary: £13.89 - £15.40 per hour depending on experience - £1000 Welcome bonus*

Contract: Permanent 30 hour contract

At Norewood Lodge, a caring team of professionals ensure exceptional care and support is provided to residents on an individual basis for short or long term needs. The home provides a range of care plans to anyone over 50 including residential, nursing, palliative and convalescence care.

Situated close to the coast not far from the seaside town of Clevedon, the home boasts wonderful views of the Bristol Channel and the hills of Wales. The property has large gardens for residents to enjoy, while a modern interior offers residents comfortable accommodation. All bedrooms are en suite and some have views of the pretty gardens.

The chef works hard to ensure that the tastes and dietary requirements of each resident are met and that meal times are a tasty and enjoyable occasion.

Residents can continue their passions and hobbies within the home setting, or even take part in new groups for reading, gardening, painting or cookery that take place throughout the year at the home. Residents can also benefit from an onsite salon and visiting mobile library.

You’ll Help Us Make Health Happen By

• Using your passion for cooking and fresh ingredients to create varied and nutritional menus in line with dietary needs and preferences of our residents
• Putting forward ideas to deliver an excellent dining experience, helping our residents to feel at home
• Training and managing the kitchen team in prepping, cooking and serving of food
• Adhering to COSHH and HACCP guidelines, company policies and procedures, budgets, managing orders and deliveries
• Catering for special events or seasonal activities, such as summer fetes, Christmas parties and birthdays (as required)

Key Skills / Qualifications Needed For This Role

A passion for cooking with previous experience working in a fresh food kitchen and relevant hygiene certificates. You want to create and deliver an excellent dining experience at each meal and make our residents feel at home. Open to new ideas, you’ll have an innovative approach to cooking whilst always adhering to high standards. You’ll enjoy communicating with others and you’ll cherish the little moments with our residents, sharing your love of food with them.
