Job summary

BCG, a care home provider, is seeking an Assistant Chef to join a small kitchen team. You will work with the Head Chef, deputise in their absence, and ensure high-quality food service while maintaining hygiene standards for residents.

Some kitchen experience is desirable, a basic Food Hygiene Certificate, and an understanding of HACCP will help you succeed in this role. PVG checks and UK work authorization are required.

Qualifications

• Experience in a kitchen is desirable but not essential.
• SVQ/NVQ Level 2 in Catering & Hospitality or Professional Cookery is required or preferred.
• Basic Food Hygiene Certificate and good understanding of HACCP principles.

Responsibilities

• Support Head Chef and deputise in their absence.
• Provide high-quality, well-balanced meals for residents.
• Maintain kitchen cleanliness and hygiene to EH regulations.
• Respond to residents' dietary needs and contribute to a positive in-home experience.

As Assistant Chef, you will be part of a small kitchen team, serving delicious, well-balanced, and nutritious meals that our residents will love. Working closely with the Head Chef, and deputising in their absence, you'll provide high-quality food service to support residents, responding to their needs and contributing to their overall positive experience in the home. You will also help to ensure the Kitchen is maintained to a high standard of cleanliness and hygiene in line with EHO regulations.

About you:

As an Assistant Chef at BCG, you will strive to deliver person-centred hospitality to the highest standards. While some experience in a kitchen environment is desirable, it is not essential. Ideally you should have an SVQ/ NVQ level 2 in Catering & Hospitality or Professional Cookery, a basic Food Hygiene Certificate and a good understanding of Hazard Analysis Critical Control Points.

Successful candidates are subject to satisfactory references and a PVG check and must be authorised to work in the UK.
