Job summary

The Yehudi Menuhin School invites applications for an Assistant Cello Teacher. The successful candidate will be an accomplished cellist with the ability to deliver focused one-to-one instruction under the direction of the Director of Music.

You will collaborate with senior teachers, monitor pupil progress, and contribute to performances and outreach initiatives, including occasional evenings and weekends. Possession of relevant academic and musical qualifications is essential.

Qualifications

• Hold appropriate academic and musical qualifications and have prior experience of teaching to a high level.
• Be an outstanding musician and instrumentalist with ongoing international activity being highly desirable.
• Be a team player respectful of others and able to contribute to a collaborative atmosphere.
• Understand and engage with the musical and pastoral needs of gifted pupils.
• Be proactive and creative to develop the School's musical life.

Responsibilities

• Deliver one-to-one cello lessons as directed by the Principal Teacher and Director of Music.
• Assist and liaise with principal instrumental teachers regarding pupils' musical needs.
• Monitor pupil practice and help with technical or musical problems.
• Deputise for Principal Teachers and deliver Second Study lessons as required.
• Prepare pupils for concerts and attend student performances, including evenings/weekends.
• Provide pastoral support to pupils and support outreach activities.
