Job description

An exciting opportunity has become available at St. Saviour's Church of England Junior School. The post is a permanent contract for 25 hours in term time, plus three additional weeks to be mutually arranged during the school holidays.

We are seeking someone with experience in maintaining premises or who has worked in construction trades. Knowledge of Health and Safety and COSHH legislation is desirable. The successful applicant will assist the Site Manager in all aspects of running the school site, including maintenance and ensuring the safety of children and staff. Responsibilities include routine work on the school site, coordinating external trades for more involved tasks, and conducting daily, weekly, and yearly health and safety checks (fire safety, legionella, PAT testing, fixed wiring checks, tree surveys, play equipment).

We are looking for someone who is trustworthy, dependable, and organized. Our school is welcoming, well-resourced, with a skilled staff team and lovely children.

Working hours are from 1:00 pm to 6:00 pm, Monday to Friday. The 6:00 pm finish is essential, as you will be responsible for locking up the school at the end of each day.

The successful candidate will:

  • Be committed to working within a team to deliver the best outcomes for children and staff
  • Have practical experience in basic maintenance and groundskeeping
  • Have experience in Health and Safety record keeping and email correspondence
  • Be reliable and trustworthy
  • Possess knowledge of Health and Safety and/or COSHH best practices

At least one interview panel member will be trained in safer recruitment. All employment offers are subject to an enhanced DBS check.
