Job summary

ICare Group in Wirral is seeking an Assistant Care Manager to lead domiciliary and extra care services from the Wirral office. The role includes operational support for an Assisted Living Facility, ensuring safe, person-centred care and managing a busy care team.

You will coordinate daily operations, drive service quality and support growth while meeting regulatory requirements. On-call duties may be required, and a full UK driving licence is needed.

Qualifications

  • Supervisory or management experience in domiciliary care.
  • NVQ/QCF Level 3 in Health and Social Care.
  • Full UK driving licence and access to your own vehicle.
  • Willingness to obtain business-use motor insurance.
  • Willingness to undertake enhanced DBS clearance.
  • Be able to participate in on-call duties and provide operational support when required.
  • Level 5 qualification in Health and Social Care desirable.

Responsibilities

  • Support the day-to-day management and coordination of the Wirral branch.
  • Ensure high-quality domiciliary care is delivered to service users.
  • Maintain accurate records, reports and documentation.
  • Manage and investigate complaints from service users and employees.
  • Recruit, onboard and support new care staff.
  • Produce and manage staffing rotas to meet service demands.
  • Support business development and growth opportunities.
  • Ensure compliance with regulatory, operational and health & safety requirements.
  • Participate in on-call duties and respond to emergencies when required.
  • Provide hands-on care during staff shortages when necessary.
  • Build positive relationships with commissioners, stakeholders and colleagues.
  • Work across departments to deliver outcomes and support performance.

Monday to Friday, 37.5 Hours Per Week

On-Call and Weekend Availability Required When Necessary

In addition to supporting our domiciliary care operations, you will also provide operational support and oversight to our Assisted Living Facility when required, ensuring the delivery of safe, effective and person-centred care across both services.

Important Information Before You Apply
  • Have previous experience in a supervisory or management role within domiciliary care
  • Hold an NVQ/QCF Level 3 in Health and Social Care
  • Hold a full UK driving licence

What Will You Be Doing?

  • Supporting the ongoing development and performance of the care team

What We're Looking For
  • Experienced within domiciliary care management or supervision
  • Confident leaders who can motivate, develop and support teams
  • Highly organised and able to manage multiple priorities effectively
  • Excellent communicators with strong relationship‑building skills
  • Knowledgeable about operational compliance and care sector regulations
  • Commercially aware with a proactive approach to business growth
  • Flexible and willing to support the service where needed
  • Committed to delivering exceptional care and customer service
  • Professional, reliable and solutions‑focused
  • Previous experience producing staff rotas, managing recruitment processes and supporting operational performance is highly desirable.
