About the role

We are looking for a passionate and innovative Assistant Buyer to join our Friends like These team. Working closely with our Merchandisers and Designers you will be an integral part of our team responsible for creating trend driven and profitable ranges for our customer. You will also be responsible for the training and development of the Buying Assistant, ensuring all tasks are fulfilled and the department runs smoothly. This is a fantastic opportunity to develop the necessary skills and knowledge to develop your career.

You will be…

  • Negotiating prices with suppliers in line with department target margins. Ensuring products are developed within target margins
  • Staying ahead of the trends through research from; social media, blogs, fashion websites, news, catwalk, street style etc
  • Knowledgeable of own department and business performance through analysis of Line Performance
  • Reviewing sales reactions with your Buyer and Merchandiser, suggesting commercial solutions
  • Attending fit meetings and contributing with commercial opinions, displaying customer awareness
  • Attending meetings in Buyers absence
  • Prioritising samples to meet both business and supplier needs
  • Supporting your Buyer with production issues
  • Overseeing BA’s management of day to day samples
  • Conducting a weekly critical path meeting with your BA. Preparing and participating in meetings, supporting the Buyer to chair the meeting effectively
  • Updating the team with any issues relating to orders, taking a proactive approach to problem solve
  • Actively building strong working relationships with suppliers
  • Previous experience working as an Assistant Buyer at a high street / retail womenswear brand
  • Great knowledge of current seasons’ bestsellers and competitor key trends along with an awareness of trends on social media and a strong eye for product
  • Able to read data and identify relevant sales and product opportunities to maximise performance for the department
  • Demonstrates passion and energy to be inspiring to others and deliver improved results
  • You’re more than happy presenting your ideas to a group confidently and clearly
  • As well as working in a team you’re self-motivated and driven when it comes to working solo too
  • Creates and introduces ideas that drives change and innovation
  • If there’s a problem you're the first to find a creative solution
  • Helpful and approachable with a positive outlook no matter what
