Job description

Assistant Buyer - Construction - Northampton

An exciting opportunity to join a well-established new build housing developer based in Northamptonshire. Responsible for delivering a full procurement process to all sites within the required deadlines and on budget.

Assistant Buyer Key Responsibilities

  1. To assist in growing the supply chain with new innovative suppliers offering savings.
  2. Purchase of materials in line with site specification and development drawings.
  3. Effectively influence construction to minimise cost/spends.
  4. Reduce construction overheads by either re-negotiating rates or eliminate material wastage.
  5. To assist in the manage integration of material specification change.
  6. Manage procurement of specific sites - cradle to grave.
  7. To assist with price negotiation with all suppliers; influence reductions and advise on potential increases.
  8. To ensure invoice queries are completed for month end.
  9. To assist in monitoring supplier performance and effectively manage issues.
  10. Compile site comparisons for each site, request further discount and FOC items to make suppliers more appealing.
  11. Planning and scheduling material deliveries for new sites.
  12. Monitor material quality and feedback to suppliers.
  13. Procure new products and rebate reclamation.

About You
  1. ONC, HNC (or equivalent) OR Qualified by experience
  2. Experienced in procurement environment
  3. Good time management skills
  4. Commercial awareness
  5. Good negotiator, excellent communicator and highly motivated.
