Job summary

Currys London Campus at Waterloo is hiring an Assistant Buyer on a 9 months Fixed Term Contract, hybrid working. You will support the Senior Buyer in delivering a compelling product range and value for customers.

You will manage the category at SKU level, collaborate with Buying, Merchandising, Online and Go-to-Market teams to drive sales, profitability and customer satisfaction. Strong Excel / Power BI skills and an eye for detail are essential.

Qualifications

• Previous buying experience within a commercial environment, ideally at Assistant Buyer level in a business where CPI was monitored weekly.
• Proficiency in Excel; Power BI and wider Microsoft Office suite.
• Highly organised with strong analytical and numerical skills.
• Strong communication and stakeholder management skills.
• Commercial awareness with understanding of customer needs and market trends.

Responsibilities

• Keeping tabs on competition to set competitive prices.
• Pricing the product range in line with CPI targets.
• Managing supplier relationships in line with category strategy.
• Analysing trading performance and recommending actions to drive the business.
• Responding to store feedback on range and promotions.
• Daily competitor checks to monitor market activity.

Positioned at the heart of our fast-paced Commercial team, this is an exciting opportunity to join our Built In and Integrated Appliances category as an Assistant Buyer on a 9 months Fixed Term Contract. Working with some of the world's leading technology brands, you will support the Senior Buyer in delivering a compelling product range and outstanding value for our customers.

As Assistant Buyer, you will play a key role in managing the category at SKU level, collaborating closely with Buying, Merchandising, Online and Go-to-Market teams to drive sales, profitability, and customer satisfaction. This role is ideal for a highly organised individual with a keen eye for detail, who thrives in a dynamic environment and is confident working both collaboratively and independently.

Role overview:

As part of this role, you'll be responsible for:

• Keeping tabs on the competition so we can set competitive prices.
• Pricing the product range in line with agreed category Competitor Price Index (CPI) targets.
• Helping to manage supplier relationships in line with the category strategy.
• Analysing trading performance and recommending actions to drive our business.
• Answering any store feedback specific to range and promotions.
• Daily competitor checks to ensure the team is aware of any activity in the market.

You will need:

• Previous buying experience within a commercial environment, ideally at Assistant Buyer level in a business where CPI was monitored closely on a weekly basis.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, ideally including Power BI and a strong working knowledge of the wider Microsoft Office suite.
• Highly organised with strong analytical and numerical skills, and the ability to make informed commercial decisions.
• Strong communication and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to build effective relationships across teams and with external suppliers.
• Commercially aware, with a strong understanding of customer needs and market trends.
