Job summary

QB SQUARE is recruiting an Assistant Buyer - Subcontractor in Epping, Essex to support procurement of brickwork materials across live projects.

You will work with the commercial and operations teams to raise POs, obtain supplier quotes, and coordinate deliveries, ensuring timely material availability on site. Previous purchasing experience in construction is highly valued.

Assistant Buyer - Subcontractor

The Role

We are currently recruiting for an Assistant Buyer to join an established and successful specialist brickwork subcontractor based in Epping, Essex.

This is a great opportunity for someone with materials buying/procurement experience who is looking to develop their career within the construction industry. Previous experience working within brickwork subcontracting would be highly advantageous.

Working alongside the wider commercial and operational teams, you will assist with the procurement of materials across a range of live construction projects.

Key Responsibilities

• Assist with the procurement of construction materials, particularly brickwork-related materials.
• Obtain and compare supplier quotations to ensure competitive pricing.
• Raise and process purchase orders.
• Liaise with suppliers regarding pricing, availability and delivery schedules.
• Coordinate material deliveries in line with project requirements.
• Build and maintain strong relationships with suppliers and subcontractors.
• Monitor orders and resolve any delivery or supply issues.
• Work closely with site and commercial teams to ensure materials are available when required.
• Maintain accurate purchasing and supplier records.

The Ideal Candidate

• Previous experience within a buying, procurement or materials-based role in construction.
• Experience within subcontracting would be preferable.
• Good understanding of construction materials and procurement processes.
• Strong communication and organisational skills.
• Confident dealing with suppliers and negotiating prices.
• Good attention to detail and ability to manage multiple orders and priorities.
• Comfortable working as part of a busy construction team.
