Job Role: Assistant Buyer

Job Type: Full Time/Perm

Salary: Flexible dependent on skills and experience

A fantastic opportunity has arisen for an Assistant Buyer to join our specialist and experienced Building Services company, providing services to the Energy, Food Processing, and Pharmaceutical industries. We offer a unique service from concept, advising, and partnering with our clients to ensure the correct mechanical and electrical solutions bespoke to their needs.

The Role:

  • Work closely with related departments to purchase materials based on operational requirements and specifications.
  • Build scheduling, materials planning, and build budget management.
  • Work with the Lead Buyer to agree on costs, delivery schedules, and payment terms.
  • Ensure all documentation is correct and complies with international purchasing and customs regulations.
  • Ensure delivery dates are accurate and communicate any changes to relevant stakeholders; follow up with suppliers for issues with late deliveries.
  • Liaise with Finance to assist with invoicing queries and supplier terms.
  • Develop and maintain strong relationships with existing suppliers, evaluate regularly as needed, and research new potential suppliers.
  • Provide market updates, such as price increases, supplier updates, and stay informed on market and industry trends.
  • Recognize potential purchasing risks and mitigate where possible.
  • Lead negotiations to ensure efficient workflow and pricing.
  • Provide metrics to key senior management when required.
  • Assist with identifying areas for improvement in an effective way.
