Job summary

SIG Roofing, part of SIG Plc, is recruiting an Assistant Branch Manager to support the branch’s day-to-day operations and drive service excellence across sales, stock control and deliveries. The role involves stepping in for the Branch Manager during absences and leading a customer-focused team.

You will work to improve customer relations, support safety initiatives and contribute to growth opportunities while maintaining a hands-on presence across the trade counter, yard and admin tasks.

Qualifications

• Experience in customer service or sales within construction or building materials is desirable.
• Strong communication skills and the ability to work with customers, suppliers and colleagues.
• Leadership experience or potential to supervise a team and improve branch performance.
• Comfort with IT systems, databases and standard office software.

Responsibilities

• Support the Branch Manager in the smooth and profitable running of the branch.
• Assist in achieving sales and margin targets across the branch.
• Build strong relationships with customers, suppliers and colleagues.
• Ensure efficient stock control, pricing and timely deliveries.
• Promote health & safety and ensure compliance with standards.
• Support vehicle maintenance, pre-shift checks and branch infrastructure.

Assistant Branch Manager at SIG Roofing

What does the role involve?

You’ll be a supportive leader, empowering the team and contributing to a culture of collaboration and growth. In this role, you’ll assist the Branch Manager in the smooth and profitable running of the branch, with involvement in all areas of the business—from sales and service to health & safety and team motivation. You’ll also step up to manage the branch in the Branch Manager’s absence.

What you'll be doing:

• Supporting the delivery of sales and margin targets across the branch.
• Building strong working relationships with customers, suppliers, and colleagues.
• Ensuring efficient stock control, pricing strategies, and timely deliveries.
• Championing a positive health & safety culture, ensuring compliance with all standards.
• Helping maintain vehicles, pre-shift checks, and branch infrastructure.
• Leading by example and supporting a motivated, service-driven team.
• Assisting in identifying growth opportunities and responding to competitor activity.
• Being hands-on and flexible—whether on the trade counter, in the yard, or admin support.

What you’ll bring:

• Sales or customer service experience, ideally in the construction or building materials sector.
• Good understanding of roofing products (preferred but not essential).
• Team leadership experience or supervisory capability.
• Strong communication and IT skills (Microsoft Office, databases).
• Confidence in working toward targets and providing excellent service.
• A Counterbalance FLT licence would be a bonus—but training can be provided.
