Job summary

Soho House is seeking an Assistant Bar Manager to support the Bar Manager in leading daily operations across the club's bars, ensuring premium beverage service and a seamless member experience.

You will help manage staffing, uphold licensing, health and safety, and hygiene standards while contributing to commercial and creative goals through training, inventory, and guest service excellence.

Qualifications

• Minimum of 2+ years' experience in similar capacity.
• Thrives in fast-paced, high-volume environments and maintains composure under pressure.
• Hospitable, approachable, passionate about customer service and respectful toward colleagues and guests.
• Able to work flexible shifts including weekends and holidays.
• Able to take direction and work collaboratively in a team and autonomously.

Responsibilities

• Assist in staff recruitment, training, and supervision of bar staff.
• Support day-to-day bar operations including opening/closing procedures and cleanliness.
• Deliver exceptional customer service and promptly handle inquiries or complaints.
• Assist in inventory management, ordering supplies, and minimizing waste.
• Collaborate on menu development and pricing with Bar Manager.
• Assist in monitoring bar revenue, expenses, and profitability.
• Coordinate ongoing training and development for bar staff.

Key duties...

• Assisting in Staff Management: Support the Bar Manager in recruiting, training, and supervising bar staff. Provide guidance, feedback, and performance evaluations to ensure a high level of service and professionalism.
• Operational Oversight: Assist in the day-to-day operations of the bar, including opening and closing procedures, ensuring compliance with health and safety regulations, and maintaining cleanliness and organization in all areas.
• Customer Service Excellence: Lead by example in delivering exceptional customer service. Interact with guests, handle customer inquiries or complaints promptly and effectively, and ensure that all guests have a positive experience.
• Inventory Management: Assist in managing bar inventory, including ordering supplies, monitoring stock levels, and conducting regular inventory counts. Implement strategies to minimize waste and optimize inventory turnover.
• Menu Development and Pricing: Collaborate with the Bar Manager and other team members to develop and update the bar menu, including selecting and pricing beverages and creating signature cocktails. Ensure that menu offerings are aligned with customer preferences and industry trends.
• Financial Management: Support the Bar Manager in monitoring bar revenue, expenses, and profitability. Assist in budgeting, forecasting, and analyzing financial data to identify opportunities for cost savings and revenue growth.
• Training and Development: Coordinate training sessions and ongoing education programs for bar staff to enhance their skills and knowledge of products, service standards, and safety procedures.
• Maintaining Relationships: Cultivate positive relationships with suppliers, vendors, and other stakeholders to ensure the smooth operation of the bar and access to high-quality products and services.
