Job description

AJ Chambers is representing a top 15 firm in search of an Audit Assistant Manager. This firm builds strong, trusted client relationships and serves a diverse range of businesses, from entrepreneurs to multinational corporations. They offer a comprehensive suite of services across the UK, driving growth and long-term success.

Your Role Responsibilities
  • Manage client correspondence, scheduling, and audit planning.
  • Supervise and review work of senior and junior staff, ensuring the file is complete and all review points are addressed before it is passed to the partner and manager.
  • Handle critical audit areas and occasional advisory work.
  • Monitor budgets, deadlines, and progress on audits.
  • Provide technical guidance and training to junior staff.
  • Assist with business development, tenders, and networking.
  • Conduct client on-site visits and appraisals.
  • Involved in tenders and presentations on audits & accounts.
  • Identify new business opportunities.
  • Establish local business contacts/networking.
  • Monitor performance of staff working on jobs, including giving feedback after file review.
  • Conduct 6 monthly appraisals for trainees.
Your Qualifications/Skills Needed
  • ACCA/ACA qualified with strong audit experience (planning to completion).
  • At least 2 years, post-qualification experience.
  • Knowledge of accounting standards (SORP, FRS 102).
  • Proficient in Excel, Word, Sage, CaseWare, and related software.
  • Supervisory experience and strong communication skills.
  • Ability to work under pressure.
  • Organisational skills.
