Were looking for a motivated and detail-oriented Assistant Audit Manager to join our growing team. In this role, you'll manage a portfolio of audit and statutory accounts clients, ensuring the delivery of high-quality work and maintaining strong client relationships.
As an Assistant Manager, you will:
- Oversee the planning and execution of audit engagements across a varied client base.
- Build and maintain trusted client relationships, acting as a key point of contact.
- Support the management of the team, including workload planning and performance appraisals.
- Mentor and develop junior team members, fostering a culture of continuous improvement.
- Maintain a clear understanding of the team's financial performance and contribute to its success.

Key Accountabilities
Statutory Accounts
- Review of statutory financial statements and accompanying working papers.
Audit
- Manage a mixed portfolio of clients, organizing the portfolio and assignments from start to finish.
- Perform thorough management review of planning, fieldwork, and finalization.
- Manage own time and manage others' time to meet internal and external deadlines. Ensure the team rearranges plans, invites, and deadlines if the client is late with information, including managing job bookings.
- Keep good control of budgetary and time constraints, ensuring that jobs achieve at least 90% recoverability, providing explanations where they do not meet this threshold.
- Visit clients' premises to complete reviews when required.
Management Team
- Attend managers' meetings, providing and communicating ideas to improve internal processes and operations within the team.
- Be actively involved in appraising team members, providing feedback to direct reports, and supporting their off-the-job learning through the apprenticeship scheme with First Intuition.
- Communicate clearly with the team, encouraging key skills such as prioritizing, planning, and delegation.
- Engage in scheduling and resourcing discussions to ensure team efficiency.
Client Relations
- Build a strong commercial awareness and understanding of the full service offering of the ZEDRA group, liaising with other departments to ensure good customer service and efficient work.
- Manage client expectations while building relationships. Go the extra mile for client service, solving issues, and making recommendations.
- Attend and represent the ZEDRA Group at business development events, promoting services where possible.
Knowledge & Experience
- Experience leading audit engagement teams.
- Confident liaising with client contacts and being the main client contact during audits.
- Preferably experience with UK GAAP and IFRS.
- Experience using CaseWare audit software is preferred.
- Ability to mentor ICAEW students through their training and on-the-job learning.
- Ability to deliver technical training updates to small groups.
- Qualified, preferably ACA; ACCA or other qualifications may be considered.
- Responsible for a portfolio of low to medium risk audits and statutory accounts clients (80/20 split).
