Assistant Assets & Contract Manager

Salary

Location: Stoke on Trent

Hours per week: 35

Contract type: Permanent

This is a permanent, salaried vacancy that will close in a month at 23:59 BST.

The role

You will support the management of responsive repairs, void properties, and planned improvement works carried out by external contractors, ensuring value for money. You will also manage a small team of surveyors, ensuring they deliver efficient, professional, and high-quality services to customers.

Job Requirements
  • Commercial management of maintenance contractors through collaboration and partnership working across all areas of Property Maintenance.
  • Motivate and manage a small team of Property Surveyors.
  • Support the Assets and Contract Manager with asset and contract targets, ensuring service level agreements and regulatory standards are met.
  • Ensure compliance with the Group’s financial regulations and procurement rules.
  • Implement effective management systems to control and track contracts and budgets.
  • Monitor and assess day-to-day maintenance work for quality and value using ICT systems.
  • Work closely with Property, Housing, and Customer Services teams to resolve maintenance queries and support reporting of repairs.
  • Organise contractor works and supervise Property Surveyors.
  • Investigate and resolve customer complaints following policies and procedures.
  • Promote positive working relationships and a team approach across departments.
What We’re Looking For
  • Extensive experience in property maintenance or construction.
  • Strong understanding of business operations with commercial awareness.
  • Experience in contract and contractor management.
  • Knowledge of legal and regulatory requirements in building maintenance.
  • Understanding of health and safety principles and best practices.
  • Excellent communication, influencing, and negotiation skills.
  • Significant experience in people management and HR processes.
  • Experience supporting financial processes like expenses and invoicing.
  • Inspirational leadership skills to motivate and develop others.
