The role

As an Assistant Armourer, you’ll be responsible for the issue, receipt, storage, and after-use checking of weapons in the armoury.

Day-to-day responsibilities include:

  • Conducting after-use confirmatory checks of service weapons and equipment in line with current training & qualifications to depth A.
  • Assisting with FFE (Free from explosives) duties as directed by the Explosives Supervisor.
  • Covering the range warden during absences and assisting when required.
  • Undertaking Duty Armourer duties, including compliance with H & S policies.
  • Supporting explosive staff during ammunition movements and assisting with ammunition processing, accounting, issuing, and receipting.

This is a full-time, onsite role at RAF Halton.

Essential experience

  • Knowledge of explosives, as you'll cover for the Explosive Supervisor during absences.
  • Experience in environments requiring strict adherence to health and safety instructions.
