Job summary

Bellway plc is recruiting an Assistant Architectural Technician to support our technical team in Tamworth with drawing production and information management. You will work with senior staff to gain hands-on experience across construction projects and collaborate with construction, commercial and sales teams.

You will contribute to drawing management, site information requests and adherence to building regulations and NHBC standards, while developing your skills in a fast-paced, house-builder

Qualifications

  • Qualified to degree level or HNC/HND in a Construction / Architectural Technology subject with relevant experience, or working towards this status
  • CSCS card or equivalent
  • Current full UK driving licence

Responsibilities

  • Work alongside senior team members to gain relevant experience in day-to-day duties
  • Produce working pack drawings with guidance from senior team members
  • Assist with the development and maintenance of divisional details and specifications
  • Support the upkeep of our Drawing Management system
  • Respond to information requests from site teams and colleagues
  • Attend site-based meetings and audits as and when required
  • Keep up to date with CDM and CPD responsibilities specific to the role
  • Maintain awareness of current legislation and regulations, as well as understanding future regulations coming into effect within the industry

Our West Midlands Division, based in Tamworth, Staffordshire, is looking to recruit an Assistant Architectural Technician to join the Division's Technical team. The role will involve regular travel to development sites across the wider West Midlands region.

The Role

The role of Assistant Architectural Technician will be to work alongside the architectural technician team and the wider business — including our Construction, Commercial and Sales teams — in the execution of construction projects through ongoing support and timely delivery of accurate architectural and technical information.

Principle accountabilities of the role include:

  • Work alongside senior team members to gain relevant experience in day-to-day duties
  • Produce working pack drawings with guidance from senior team members
  • Assist with the development and maintenance of divisional details and specifications
  • Support the upkeep of our Drawing Management system
  • Respond to information requests from site teams and colleagues

Experience, Qualifications and Skills

Experience

  • Experience of working with Autodesk Revit & AutoCAD is desirable - AutoCAD proficiency is an integral part of the role, and additional training can be provided to develop this further
  • Previous experience with a housebuilder or residential developer in a technical or architectural function is desirable
  • Knowledge of building regulations and current NHBC standards

Qualifications and Training

  • Qualified to degree level or HNC/HND in a Construction / Architectural Technology subject with relevant experience, or working towards this status
  • CSCS card or equivalent
  • Current full UK driving licence

  • Strong communication, listening, presentation skills and excellent attention to detail
  • Ability to be able to express technical information in a clear and concise manner
  • Methodical, conscientious, organised and works to deliver high standards
  • Ability to recognise problems and deal with them in a speedy and effective manner
  • Ability to work independently as well as part of a team
  • Ability to thrive under pressure in a fast-paced environment
  • Proficient IT skills along with a good working knowledge of Microsoft Office (Word, Excel and outlook) and the ability to adapt to new systems.
