Job summary

Sharp Consultancy is assisting a well-established manufacturing business in Chesterfield to recruit an Assistant Accountant to join the finance team on a full-time, permanent basis. The role involves supporting day-to-day accounting and helping ensure timely, accurate financial information.

Ideal candidate is AAT qualified or close to completion, with a solid grounding in core accounting principles, strong numerical skills, and proficiency in Excel and accounting systems.

Qualifications

• Experience in an accounts or finance role.
• AAT qualification or working towards the qualification.
• Understanding of core accounting principles.
• Strong numerical skills with high attention to detail.
• Confidence using Excel and accounting systems.
• Proactive approach to workload and deadlines.
• Keen to learn and progress in finance.

Responsibilities

• Assist with monthly management accounts preparation.
• Support month-end processes including accruals and prepayments.
• Reconcile balance sheet accounts and investigate discrepancies.
• Prepare and maintain financial reports and schedules.
• Assist with purchase ledger, sales ledger and bank reconciliations.
• Support budgeting and forecasting activities.
• Ensure financial records are accurate and up to date.
• Collaborate with finance colleagues to keep the department running smoothly.
