Job summary

Recruitment Solutions (NW) Ltd is recruiting an Assistant Accountant to join our client’s established and growing Accountancy Practice in the Rochdale area. This role offers exposure to a varied client portfolio and opportunities to develop technical knowledge within a supportive team.

You will assist with statutory accounts, management reports, VAT, corporation tax and bookkeeping, while using Xero, Sage or QuickBooks and strengthening Excel skills.

Qualifications

• Previous experience within an accountancy practice or a similar finance role.
• AAT qualified, part-qualified or studying towards AAT, ACA or ACCA.
• Basic knowledge of accounts preparation, bookkeeping and VAT.
• Experience using accounting software such as Xero, Sage, QuickBooks or similar.
• Good Microsoft Excel skills.

Responsibilities

• Assisting with the preparation of statutory accounts for sole traders, partnerships and limited companies
• Supporting the preparation of management accounts and financial reports
• Preparing VAT returns and ensuring submissions meet deadlines
• Assisting with corporation tax computations and personal tax returns
• Carrying out bookkeeping duties, including purchase ledger, sales ledger and bank reconciliations
• Maintaining accurate financial records for a portfolio of clients
• Liaising with clients to obtain information and resolve accounting queries
• Supporting month-end processes and other accounting duties as required
• Ensuring work is completed accurately and in line with relevant accounting regulations
• Working closely with senior accountants to develop your technical skills and knowledge
