Assistant Accountant
Location: Near Wisbech
Join an industry leader where career growth and development opportunities await. We're seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Assistant Accountant to work closely with our Finance team, supporting the processing of financial transactions and reporting to ensure accuracy, integrity, and compliance.
Key Responsibilities:
- Maintain reconciliations for the company balance sheet, ensuring transparency of all assets and liabilities.
- Support the Group Accountant with the integrity, accuracy, and timeliness of financial records.
- Assist with VAT processes, reconciliations, and quarterly returns.
- Manage and maintain the Fixed Asset Register, including reconciliations, documentation, and timely depreciation journals.
- Process, reconcile, and post manual bank transactions; contribute to the preparation of regular cash-flow forecasts.
- Support the monthly close process, including journals, allocations, and maintaining accurate ledgers.
- Reconcile prepayments and accruals with full working papers for review and audit.
- Complete monthly balance sheet account reconciliations, maintaining clear documentation and commentary.
- Provide support across the wider Finance team, assisting during absences and busy periods.
- Contribute to statutory reporting, audits, and the preparation of financial accounts within agreed time lines.
About You:
- Previous experience in an accounting/finance support role (part-qualified or studying towards AAT/ACCA/CIMA desirable).
- Strong attention to detail with excellent organisational skills.
- Proficient in Excel and financial systems, with the ability to analyse and interpret data.
- Proactive and collaborative team player, able to support colleagues across multiple finance functions.
- Keen to learn and develop within a growing finance team.
