About the Business

An opportunity to be an Assistant Accountant for a successful company based in Rugby. Upon building a great reputation, this business is undergoing expansion and opening a new office in Rugby which you can be a part of. It gives you a fantastic chance to be part of an expanding and exciting team.

Role Overview

This is a varied, hands-on Assistant Accountant role which involves:

The focus of the role will be to bridge the gap between transactional finance and management accounts. It involves assisting the management accountant with management accounting duties, reports, and the wider finance function.

Key Responsibilities

  1. Working closely with the Line Manager, Management Accounts to ensure accurate month end, preparation and reporting of the monthly Management Accounts.
  2. Accruals & Prepayments.
  3. Revenue accruals & deferrals.
  4. Transactional Finance.
  5. Assisting in financial reporting.
  6. Variance analysis with commentary.
  7. Matching costs to revenue to ensure accurate reporting.
  8. Investigation and commentary on variances to budget.
  9. Balance sheet reconciliations.
  10. Other ad-hoc duties.

Candidate Profile

We are looking for a confident, reliable person, who is committed and able to cope in a pressured environment.

Location / Office / Culture

The role is office-based in their new Rugby facility, with the chance to become hybrid after probation. The company operates from a modern office consisting of a strong team of circa 10.

What We Are Looking For

  1. Minimum of 18 months in an accountancy role, with a good understanding of accruals and prepayments.
  2. Experience in Payroll and Fixed Assets is a bonus.
  3. ACCA/CIMA studying is desired, but not essential.
  4. Sage Impact System understanding is desired but not essential.
  5. Self-sufficient, confident persona.
