GENERAL SUMMARY

The position of Assistant Accountant is responsible for collaborating with the Controller and other Accounting team members to successfully execute various accounting tasks.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
  • Perform Accounts Payable functions for three (3) store locations including verifying invoices, reviewing purchase orders, and processing payments to vendors.
  • Review and update the unvouchered items weekly to keep payables up to date.
  • Review and process employee expense reports per Company guidelines.
  • Complete daily billing by matching the daily shipments with the correct freight charges to ensure each shipment is billed correctly.
  • Provide backup as needed.
  • Maintain monthly account reconciliations and review any discrepancies.
  • Other duties as assigned.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES REQUIRED
EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE

Associate's degree (A.A.) or equivalent from two-year college or technical school; and three years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of training and experience.

LANGUAGE SKILLS

Ability to read and interpret documents and reports. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively to customers or employees of the organization.

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS

Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, and percentages.

REASONING ABILITY

Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.
