Assistant Accountant

Location: Lithia UK Head Office - Hybrid working with flexibility to work from home 2 days per week

Salary of £28,172 includes pension, life assurance, 33 days holiday (including bank holidays), exclusive company discounts on used car purchases, leasing deals, and aftersales services.

Due to our ongoing growth and expansion, we are looking for a talented individual to join us as an Assistant Accountant. You will work physically from Head Office for three days a week, with the flexibility to work from home for two days.

In our central Finance Shared Service Centre, we support our extensive network of retailers across the country. As we continually improve our service and introduce the latest technologies, we seek motivated individuals to build a limitless career with us. As an Assistant Accountant, your responsibilities will include ensuring the accuracy of the General Ledger, creating trial balances, and drafting financial statements.

Key responsibilities include:

• Performing general accounting support and month-end procedures, reviewing and analyzing information from the General Ledger and other records to ensure accuracy and completeness, and taking corrective actions as needed.
• Addressing audit inquiries and investigations.
• Creating trial balances and draft financial statements, reconciling General Ledger or balance sheet accounts, and supporting the production of balance sheets, income statements, and other financial reports according to legal and company guidelines.
• Executing period-end accounting entries by posting manual journal entries and processing recharges, ensuring processes are correctly followed.
• Preparing for month-end and year-end closing processes.
• Providing proactive feedback and ideas to develop and improve solutions, while building sound working relationships with colleagues and stakeholders.
• Completing necessary training and maintaining confidentiality and data protection standards at all times.
• Supporting project-related activities within the Record-to-Reporting function as required.

Candidate requirements:

• Experience as an Assistant Accountant or Accounts Assistant.
• BSc/BA in Accounting, Finance, or a relevant field preferred; membership of a professional accounting body such as CIMA, ACCA, ACA, or equivalent is a plus but not essential.
• Strong understanding of accounting and financial reporting principles, with excellent financial, analytical, communication, and project management skills.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, Excel, Outlook, and knowledge of ERP systems and workflow technology.
• Excellent organizational skills, with the ability to manage time effectively and deliver high-quality work independently within tight deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
