Job summary

Nigel Wright Group in Gateshead is supporting a local organisation to recruit an Assistant Accountant on a 12-month fixed-term contract with hybrid working.

You will support accounts payable, credit control and management accounts, prepare journals and month-end adjustments, and help maintain accurate financial records.

Assistant Accountant
Nigel Wright are currently supporting a Gateshead based organisation with their Assistant Accountant requirement. This role is initially 12 months fixed term, offering immediate stary and hybrid working.

The Role
As Assistant Accountant, you will:

• Provide finance support across accounts payable, credit control and management accounts activities to ensure smooth day-to-day operations.
• Prepare and post journals, accruals, prepayments and other month-end accounting adjustments.
• Assist with the production of monthly management accounts and month-end reporting requirements.

• Process manual credit notes, journal entries and other finance transactions accurately and efficiently.

The Candidate
To be successful in this role, you'll have:

• Previous experience within an Accounts Assistant, Assistant Accountant or Assistant Financial Accountant position.
• Strong understanding of accounts payable, credit control and general ledger processes within a busy finance environment.
• Experience preparing journals, accruals, prepayments and supporting month-end accounting activities.
• Confidence working across both transactional finance and management accounts support duties.
• Strong attention to detail with the ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines.
• Proficient user of finance systems
