Job description

Practice Accountant/Bookkeeper

Experienced Bookkeeper or Semi Senior looking for a role in a busy Bookkeeping, Management Accounts department, where you join a team of 8 to manage a portfolio of clients and prepare clients management accounts, VAT returns and other bookkeeping assignments.

Client sectors include - property developers, international businesses, retailers, service industries, pharmacies, restaurants, antique dealers, importers, technology start ups, opticians, nursing homes, landlords and many others.

You will be part of a very successful and supportive Bookkeeping team. Your role will be varied and will be split between preparing management accounts, general bookkeeping duties (sales ledger, purchase ledger, reconciliations, control accounts, provisions, depreciation, etc) mostly using Xero, (exposure to other accounting software's like Sage and Quickbooks would also be helpful), preparing VAT returns, offering clients advice, and various reports, training clients on the software and assisting with VAT queries. Dealing with HMRC queries. A solid understanding of double entry as accounts preparation and good Excel skills is required. Training will be provided where necessary, particularly within the area of Service charge accounting for residential properties where we provide independent reports for many managing agents.

You will progress to be able to operate independently and take on responsibility at a quick pace and be looking for a challenging and interesting variety of work, progression is available within the department. To be considered for this role it is likely you will be qualified AAT or part ACCA and have at least 2 3 years experience from a UK accountancy practice background with a good understanding of bookkeeping principles and VAT rules. Also qualified by experience candidates will be considered.
