Salary: £31,364 per annum

About the role

As an Assistant Accountant in our Accounting team, you will be fundamental to supporting the organisation through the provision of financial services. Based within our Accounting Team at Boston Spa, the role involves working closely with other teams across departments, providing a broad range of financial and leadership skills to enhance your formal training.

There is one full-time position reporting to the Accountant, ensuring the department's key responsibilities are fulfilled. Responsibilities include contributing to the production of the Library’s annual report and accounts, advising colleagues on indirect tax matters, maintaining the Fixed Asset Register, managing capital expenditure, overseeing daily treasury requirements including bank reconciliations, assisting in statutory returns, supporting budget planning and forecasting with Finance Business Partners, maintaining the performance dashboard, and providing financial analysis.

We value your personality and natural skills. We seek someone who is well-organized, can manage conflicting priorities, and communicates effectively. You should have some minimum professional qualifications—CCAB qualified or part-qualified (final level)—and a commitment to completing professional examinations.

Essential skills and knowledge include:

  • Accountancy Qualification – CCAB qualified or part-qualified (final level) with commitment to completing professional examinations.
  • Knowledge of Government accounting requirements.
  • Financial and mathematical acumen.
  • Excellent IT skills, including knowledge of accounting systems.
  • Understanding of financial and banking regulations and practices.
  • Effective communication skills with staff at all levels.
Additional Information

Interviews will be held at our Boston Spa site near Wetherby in Yorkshire.
