Job description

Our well known client based in Blackburn, are currently recruiting for an experienced Assistant Accountant. This company has expanded massively over the past 10 years and needs a strong Assistant Accountant to join and support the accounts team.

Duties Include:

  • Assisting in the preparation of balance sheets, profit & loss accounts, and other key financial reports.
  • Support accounts payable, accounts receivable, and general ledger entries, ensuring accuracy and timeliness.
  • Ensure payments to suppliers are processed on time and supplier accounts are reconciled.
  • Help prepare tax returns, including VAT and other relevant filings.
  • Conduct bank reconciliations and ensure accurate inventory and WIP valuation.
  • Verify and reconcile stock, ensuring accurate valuations and addressing any discrepancies.
  • Work closely with the Stock team to ensure system-to-floor checks, quarantine movement authorisations, and inventory audits are completed in line with company policies.
  • Assist in the timely closing of accounts and preparation for audits.

Ideally, you will have worked in a similar role and are looking for the next step up within your career. The client will pay for study (CIMA/ACCA) should you wish to study. You need to have a real passion for accounting, be a good team player, a strong communicator, and have an eye for detail.
