At FCDO Services we protect the UK’s interests at home and overseas. We design and construct secure government buildings and courier diplomatic packages worldwide, safeguard government tech and a whole lot more. Our work is as varied and vital as it gets, but we never lose sight of our people. Their skills, aspirations and growth mean as much as the global mission we’re on. In our world, it all matters.
Balancing quality and value is a real skill, and it's one shared by our Commercial team, who make sure we meet the needs of government customers. They're the specialists who shape services with expert insights, win work through expert bid management, and help us reach new customers each day. Now, you’ve got the opportunity to join them.
The Customer Relationships and Strategy team leads our organisation’s approach to new business and customer engagement, and when you join us in this vital role you’ll contribute to projects that have real impact both in the UK and internationally. Acting as a key link between customers and delivery teams, you’ll focus on identifying opportunities, resolving issues and supporting improvement initiatives. And as you help Relationship Managers deliver our Corporate Plan and raise awareness of any customer or delivery issues, you’ll ensure a timely response to operational requirements and oversee the preparation of proposals and approval documentation. Committed to developing a deep understanding of our customers, stakeholders and the environment we operate in, you’ll also assist with the development of compelling products and service offers that create better value for our organisation.
You’ll have a wide range of additional responsibilities – these include helping customers understand their ToBA obligations and trading fund benefits, championing products and services, helping to cultivate new opportunities and keeping your colleagues up to speed with the latest news and developments. Making an important contribution to the delivery of our stakeholder strategy, maintaining CRM engagement records and preparing pre and post meeting briefing information, you’ll also develop creative account and engagement plans. In addition, we’ll expect you to work with our delivery and service management teams to ensure customer expectations are managed, any issues are resolved or escalated, and a strong focus on continuous improvement is maintained.
To be a success in this busy role you’ll have proven experience of working in a customer-facing team, plenty of insights into revenue delivery, business planning and relationship management, and the ability to deal tactfully with customers’ concerns. With this in mind you should be skilled at managing expectations, sharing complex information simply and succinctly, and capable of collating data to enable compelling rationales and reports. A collaborative team player with the confidence to work with a diverse range audiences and stakeholders, you should also have well developed commercial acumen and knowledge of financial management reporting.
Highly organised with excellent attention to detail, you’ll be adaptable, flexible, ready to respond to changing priorities and results driven. We’d prefer you to have a degree or Level 6 qualification and be working towards membership of a body such as the CIPS or RICS, and an understanding of the requirements of operating within the public sector would be desirable. In addition, familiarity with Salesforce or other CRM technology and software would be an advantage, as would knowledge of the products, solutions and services our organisation offers.
But we’re always looking to improve – just like you. That’s why when you join us, expect to receive a competitive salary, generous holiday entitlement and a Civil Service Pension. Along with this, you’ll also have access to training and other development opportunities to help grow your career with us. Our offices have an on-site gym, nursery, café, and restaurant, and we offer interest-free loans on season tickets and bikes to help you get there. It's a great set of benefits made to support all you do, and all you need.
