Edelman Smithfield is Edelman UK’s financial communications & capital markets specialists. We advise public and private companies on strategic and capital markets communications to position them within the financial community during normal-course business and transformative events (M&A, IPOs, Spinoffs, Bankruptcy, Investor Relations, etc.). We provide corporate communications support to a wide range of blue-chip financial services firms, with expertise in asset management, pensions, professional services, insurance, and consumer finance. We devise highly creative media engagement platforms that differentiate our clients from their peers. We also offer ESG consulting services to help clients mitigate risks, seize opportunities, and earn stakeholder trust.

We are looking for an Assistant Account Executive to join our growing team. The candidate will be part of a specialized team of financial communications practitioners, gaining exposure to Edelman senior leadership and supporting core account tasks such as research, media monitoring, client collateral development, execution of social media and digital strategies, and media relations.

This role is ideal for individuals seeking a fast-paced, challenging environment and aiming to develop skills to become successful financial communications advisors.

Responsibilities:

  1. Support in creating communication plans and managing their execution.
  2. Implement strategic media relations programs.
  3. Understand clients’ businesses and key stakeholders, and communicate this knowledge to the team.
  4. Exhibit excellent written and verbal communication skills and provide constructive feedback.
  5. Support daily client needs and assist the client lead as appropriate.
  6. Ensure quality work, meet deadlines, and adhere to budgets.
  7. Collaborate effectively within the team, motivate, coach, and provide feedback.
  8. Participate in new business activities, including research, proposals, and pitches.
  9. Uphold Edelman’s values and ethical standards.

Skills needed/desired:

  1. Strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and adaptability.
  2. Ability to multitask responsibly.
  3. Critical thinking and good judgment.
  4. Effective interpersonal, written, and oral communication skills.
  5. Proficiency in MS Office and supporting communication platforms.
  6. Strong work ethic and dedication to quality.
  7. Relevant experience in financial communications or related fields is preferred but not required.
