Job summary

Sodexo Group is seeking an Estate Strategy & Planning Manager to shape the long-term future of a large, complex estate portfolio. You will lead a multidisciplinary team of architects, designers and CAD technicians to deliver innovative, data-driven estate strategies that optimise asset performance and value.

You will work closely with stakeholders to ensure investment decisions align with objectives, compliance and long-term success, guiding master plans and strategic asset management.

Qualifications

Degree in Architecture, Building Surveying, Estate Management or a related discipline.
Chartered membership (RICS, RIBA, CIOB or equivalent) is desirable.
Significant experience in strategic estate or asset management in complex environments.
Proven experience delivering estate strategies, asset management plans and long-term capital programmes.
Experience leading multidisciplinary teams of architects, designers and technical specialists.

Responsibilities

Lead development and implementation of Estate Strategy, Estate Management Strategy and Asset Management Strategy.
Develop 10-year Estate Programme of Work and 15-year Masterplans and Blueprint designs.
Manage production of Strategic and Local Asset Management Plans and annual State of the Estate Report.
Translate asset data into evidence-based estate strategies and investment plans.
Lead estate-wide Master Plans, spatial strategies and design standards for refurbishment and new builds.
Oversee early-stage project development (RIBA Stages 0–1) and business case development.
Collaborate with PMO and Project teams to ensure smooth transition from planning to delivery.
Develop and maintain Projects Dossier aligning priorities with business objectives.
Monitor estate performance via KPI reporting and data analytics for continuous improvement.
Champion sustainability and Net Zero across planning activities.
Build relationships with senior stakeholders and present complex strategies clearly.
Lead, mentor and develop a multidisciplinary team with technical leadership.

We are now seeking an Estate Strategy & Planning Manager to join our team.

As the Estate Strategy & Planning Manager, you will play a pivotal role in shaping the long-term future of a large and complex estate portfolio. Leading a multidisciplinary team of architects, designers and CAD technicians, you will develop and deliver innovative, data-driven estate strategies that optimise asset performance, sustainability and value. Working closely with key stakeholders, you'll ensure estate investment decisions support organisational objectives, statutory compliance and long-term operational success.

What you'll do:

Lead the development, implementation and continuous improvement of the Estate Strategy, Estate Management Strategy and Asset Management Strategy.
Develop and oversee long-term estate planning, including a 10-year Estate Programme of Work and 15-year Masterplans and Blueprint designs.
Manage the production of Strategic and Local Asset Management Plans, Asset-Level Plans and the annual State of the Estate Report.
Translate asset condition, utilisation, risk and performance data into clear, evidence-based estate strategies and investment plans.
Lead the development of estate-wide Master Plans, spatial strategies and design standards to support refurbishment, new build and estate rationalisation.
Oversee early-stage project development (RIBA Stages 0–1), including strategic definition, business case development and production of Development Briefs.
Work collaboratively with the PMO and Project teams to ensure projects transition effectively from planning into delivery.
Develop and maintain the Projects Dossier, ensuring estate investment priorities are aligned with business objectives.
Monitor estate performance through benchmarking, KPI reporting and data analytics, driving continuous improvement across the estate.
Champion sustainability, Net Zero objectives and whole-life asset management principles across all strategic planning activities.
Build strong relationships with senior stakeholders, presenting complex estate strategies and recommendations in a clear and accessible way.
Lead, mentor and develop a multidisciplinary team, fostering a collaborative, high-performing and innovative culture while providing technical leadership and quality assurance across all planning and design outputs.

What you bring:

Degree in Architecture, Building Surveying, Estate Management or a related discipline.
Chartered membership (RICS, RIBA, CIOB or equivalent) is desirable.
Significant experience in strategic estate or asset management within the public sector or similarly complex environments.
Proven experience developing and delivering estate strategies, asset management plans and long-term capital programmes.
Experience leading multidisciplinary teams of architects, designers and technical specialists.
Strong knowledge of ISO 55000, PAS 55, RIBA Plan of Work and public sector governance.
Experience developing business cases and supporting capital investment planning.
Excellent analytical skills with the ability to interpret asset data and translate insights into strategic decisions.
Strong stakeholder management and communication skills, with the ability to influence senior leaders and engage both technical and non-technical audiences.
A collaborative leadership style with a passion for continuous improvement, innovation and developing high-performing teams.

Desirable experience:

Experience working within secure estates, justice, defence or blue-light environments.
Knowledge of estate sustainability strategies and Net Zero programmes.
Experience with BIM, advanced CAD and digital asset management systems.
Experience integrating asset data and analytics into strategic estate planning.
