Job summary

Transport for London seeks an Asset Operations Officer to maintain regional assets, coordinating with in-house teams, suppliers and contractors to deliver a safe, reliable service. The role covers day-to-day operations, 24/7 readiness and close stakeholder collaboration.

The ideal candidate will have GCSE or highways/asset management qualifications, knowledge of Surface Transport assets, and familiarity with IT systems such as NAMS, SFM and Workflow. Hybrid working is available.

Qualifications

• GCSE education or equivalent and/or a qualification in highways or asset management.
• Awareness of statutory obligations and legal frameworks, including Health & Safety.
• Awareness of asset management principles and practices.
• Knowledge of the London Surface Transport Network.
• Good working knowledge of one or more Surface Transport assets and systems.
• Understanding of London's political landscape, including Boroughs and key influencers.

Responsibilities

• Deliver day-to-day regional operations with in-house teams, suppliers and contractors to provide a cost-effective, responsive and resilient service.
• Protect and improve operational performance within the region to achieve scorecard objectives.
• Discharge statutory obligations as the Highway and Traffic Signals Authority and comply with relevant legal and health and safety requirements.
• Maintain effective stakeholder relationships, including Boroughs.
• Provide operational input into schemes and projects to ensure quality and efficiency.
• Support the management of minor works and events through site inspections and quality checks.
• Participate in knowledge sharing and capability building across the team.
• Develop working knowledge of the regional network, proactively manage risks and identify opportunities.
• Assist with incidents and emergencies to ensure safety, minimise disruption and protect assets.
• Liaise with internal and external stakeholders and attend site when required.
• Participate in an on-call duty roster if required.
